Survey of Doctrine: Topic: Disciples in the 1st CenturyPrinter Friendly
Some in the Body of Christ have wondered why there were so many healings during the ministry of Jesus and in the first century of the church and not so much now. Some attribute it to a lack of faith or righteousness in the church and/or among the individuals in the congregation. The doctrine makes it clear that these great miracles and healings in the first century had the purpose of establishing the position of Jesus Christ and the initial establishment of the church and the proclamation of the gospel.
